Brit Mitzvah: Emmett Gross Saturday, January 25, 10:00 am Hybrid
Emmett is a 7th grader at Marshall Middle School, and attends the Citizen Science Institute (CSI) program. They live at home with the love and support from their family, and their cats and dogs. Emmett has been trekking around the PNW woods since they could walk. A curiosity for the natural world has developed over their lifetime. This is nurtured today through the wonderful CSI program, backpacking, and walking local trails with dogs and family. Emmett also enjoys soccer, orchestra, and drawing. This is a kid who cares deeply for human rights, the planet, and the animals we share this earth with. Emmett's Mitzvah project is centered around supporting a local animal shelter through donations and volunteering. They are looking forward to sharing this upcoming rite of passage, their Brit Mitzvah, with friends, family and community.
What: I, Emmett, am focusing on providing care to animals in local shelters, primarily the Joint Animal Shelter in Lacey, via volunteering my time, and creating cat toys and sewing blankets for adoption boxes. I am requesting support, via donation, from the congregation for animals in need in our community. Why: I love animals. They don't have a voice and I want to bridge the language barrier by voicing their needs to you. It matters to me to provide a mitzvah and that connects to my Torah portion. Where: There will be a donation box by the bulletin board at the temple entrance to receive your generous donations. Thank you for your help!!
Donations needed include: FOOD - Puppy wet/dry food (Kirkland Brand or Purina Pro Plan - Cat/ Kitten dry food (Kirkland Brand Cat and Kitten Maintenance, Royal Canin Mother and Baby cat, and Iams Kitten) - Canned Kitten food - Milk Replacement for kittens and pups (KMR) - Meat baby food (no ham) SUPPLIES - Clay Litter, non- clumping (small bags preferred) - yesterday's News cat litter - TOYS and treats for cats and dogs. (They need stimulation and play while they are in close quarters in their transitional housing. Improves quality of life!) - Pill pockets OTHER SUPPLIES - Bleach - Paper Towels - Gifts cards to: Mud Bay, Petsmart, Petco, Walmart, Costco, the Dollar Store etc...
