The choir at TBH, Kol N'Shama, invites you to attend our annual Kumsitz on Saturday, February 15th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Social Hall to celebrate Shabbat Shirah, the Sabbath of Song (technically, it will have been the week before, but close enough!).

From the Yiddish "come sit," a Kumsitz describes gathering to sing and socialize, either on the floor, in chairs, or around a campfire.  (We'll provide the chairs and a fake campfire!)

Songs of Peace marks our theme since peace is always needed.  We'll start with Jewish liturgical music and see where the group goes.  What's your favorite version of Oseh Shalom?  Lo Yisa Goy?  Shalom Aleichem?  Or a favorite secular folk song that sings of peace?

Bring your guitars, percussion instruments, and voices!   You can help teach songs orally or bring songbooks and printed copies to hand out.   The choir will have some selections shown on the flatscreen TV so all can see.  If you know in advance of something you'd like us to sing or teach the group, share the lyrics with Lydia Beth at greenacts@icloud.com and we will do our best to have them available.

Join us even if you don't have a song to share.  Bring yourself, your family, and your friends!  All levels of singing experience and knowledge are welcome.

We'll sing from 4:00 to about 5:30 p.m., conclude our time with Havdallah led by Rabbi Goldstein, and then enjoy Seudat Shlishi, the third meal at the end of Shabbat.  Please bring a dairy potluck item to share. Coffee, tea, and utensils will be provided.

At Shabbat Shirah, the Sabbath of Song, we read Parshat Beshalach (Exodus 13:17-17:16), the Torah portion that includes the Song at the Sea.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with the Choir Director, Lydia Beth Leimbach, at (360) 878-1013 or greenacts@icloud.com
