CHESED + TZEDAKAH = MITZVAH Elul Clothes for Teens Donation Drive NOW through Selichot
As we enter Elul we turn inward and examine our behaviors over the past year. This introspection can lead us to think of ways to help our neighbors. During this time we can recommit to helping our community. This and next month, TBH Task Forces are focusing on ways to help youth in our community.
The TBH Homelessness Task Force is sponsoring a clothing drive to benefit Rosie's Place, the youth shelter operated by Community Youth Services. Clothing for ages 15-24, particularly hoodies, jeans, and sweatpants, can be dropped off at TBH anytime you are in the building for services, meal pick-up, study sessions, etc. (or arrange a drop off time with the office). There will be a labeled crate in the entry area next to the food bank bin.
Leil Selichot and Cornhole Tournament September 17, 7:00 pm Hybrid
Why can’t repentance be fun? Is there a greater joy than the ability to learn from our mistakes and grow from them? The Jewish understanding of “sin” is that we have “missed the mark,” or not acted in ways that are expected of us. So let’s have a bit of fun with a game of cornhole, where we try not to “miss the mark.” We will follow with Havdalah, a short service and study introducing the prayer themes of the High Holidays, and preparing our sanctuary for the High Holidays. Cornhole outdoors begins at 7:00 pm, followed by hybrid service and study at 8:00 pm.
What's Important About Elul? Practicing the Art of Becoming September 18, 10:00 am
Kids 9 and up can learn how setting intentions for new directions can strengthen our practice of becoming our best self.
It takes a number of people to make High Holidays run smoothly. If you are interested in being a greeter, a remote Zoom host, coming in to assemble member gift bags or making deliveries, email Tzvi in the TBH office.
