The Shofar Project: An Elul Intensive Thursday September 10, 17 at 7:00 - 8:00 pm
A Free Four-Week Online Program from the Institute for Jewish Spirituality and its Partner Organizations
TBHers are encouraged to register for The Shofar Project to deepen their Elul experience. Rabbi Seth will host a weekly Thursday night group from 7-8 p.m. to correspond with the program and be a local support and facilitation group. Children's Blessing Slideshow for Rosh Hashanah Friday, September 11
We will bless our children by sharing a slideshow of all of our TBH youth! If you would like to participate, send in a photo or two to be included. Children will NOT be identified by name as part of the slideshow. Send photos to tbh@bethhatfiloh.org by Friday September 11.
Leil Selichot Saturday, September 12, 8:00 pm
High Holiday services begin with Selichot, an observance and service on the Saturday evening prior to Rosh Hashanah. This night serves as an introduction to the themes and liturgy of the holidays as we begin with Havdalah to end Shabbat, then engage in study, song and prayer led by Rabbi Seth.
Family Life & Learning Orientation Sunday, September 13, 10:00 am
Whether you are a current or previous Beit Sefer family with school age children, new to Jewish education at TBH or just interested in figuring out what the plan looks like this year - join us for this year's orientation. High Holiday Care packages will include resources to help you celebrate the holidays at home, including apples and honey, havdalah candles, yahrtzeit candles, activities, and more!
TBH Member care packages do not require reservation and will be available for pick up in the TBH Parking Lot Sunday afternoon.

Honey Cake Baking Tuesday, September 15, 6:00 p.m.
What is a Jewish holiday without special foods? Honey cake is one of the traditional Rosh Hashanah foods, eaten as a blessing for a sweet year. Just in time for the holiday, Lisa David from Nineveh Assyrian Food Truck will teach you how to bake honey cake.
"Puget Sound the Shofar": LIMITED SPOTS LEFT!! On Sunday, the second day of Rosh Hashanah, people will be invited to gather in a variety of parks along the shore of Budd Bay for tashlikh (the traditional casting of sins) and shofar. Rabbi Seth will visit each location via boat over the course of the day. Register here>>
Yizkor at the Cemetery Our annual Yom Kippur Yizkor (memorial) service will take place at our TBH cemetery. Those in attendance will be invited to circle the cemetery, or stand by the graves of loved ones, and there is room for people to stay in their car as well. Register here>>
Neilah/Havdalah in the Parking Lot We will gather together in the parking lot as the sun sets for the closing service of Yom Kippur. While we can not hold our communal break fast this year, we will have the opportunity to share in the end of the holiday. Register here>>
Submit Your Online Yizkor Book & Al Chet Form
The TBH Yizkor (Memorial Book) will be distributed in person and electronically at Yizkor services, and contains the liturgy of the Memorial Service as well as the names of those whom worshippers wish to remember. Donations for the Yizkor book will be accepted in memory of a loved one. A donation pf $10 per name is suggested. Click on the button below to fill out the online form. Hard copy forms will be included in care packages.
Al Chet submissions are anonymous and will be read at the Yom Kippur Neilah service.
TBH is holding our traditional High Holiday Food Drive for the Thurston County Food Bank this year, with some modifications. All non-perishable food is welcome. Baby food, canned soup, mac and cheese, and kid friendly single serving items (snacks, top ramen, canned pasta, fruit cups) are especially needed this year. Checks to “Thurston County Food Bank” are a welcome alternative.

You may drop off checks to the Thurston County Food Bank in the secure TBH mailbox any time up to 9 am, Sunday October 4.

Mitzvah Morning, TBH’s annual day of service, will look a little different this year. Like every year, we will address community needs like food insecurity and homelessness. Unlike every other year, we do that during a pandemic.
