Sigd is a celebration of the Ethiopean Jews as the idea of accepting the Torah and yearning for Israel and the Temple. It became a national Israeli in 2008. The Beta Israel community asks that Jews around the world commemorate this holiday to highlight the Ethiopean Jewish people.
