Shavuot: Service and Torah Reading
Sunday, June 9, 2019 • 6 Sivan 5779
10:00 AM - 12:00 PMHaving left Egypt and slavery behind at Passover, we are now, as a people, en route to Sinai, where we will receive Torah (anew, as we do every year) on the Festival of SHAVUOT. This year we will have multiple opportunities to learn and celebrate, in the evening and in the morning.
10:00 am Shavuot morning service with Torah reading
Seven adult members of our Community --- Rebekah Erev, Nancy Snyder, Laura Schrager, Sam Kates-Goldman, Tikva Glantz, Nomy Lamm, and Karen Greene --have been hard at work these past months learning Torah trope, the system of chanting from the Torah scroll, and will debut their newly acquired skills on Shavuot morning. As part of the Torah service we will re-enact standing together at Sinai and hear the reading of Aseret haDibrot (The 10 Commandments). It will be a lively and joyous celebration!
This is also the last day of Beit Sefer for the year; parents are welcome to stay for the service after the morning Havdalah assembly. TBH will provide a kiddush lunch following services.
