THIS WEEK AT TBH
Tevah Sharing Circles Saturday, April 5, 3:00 pm In Person
People who have previously attended are most welcome to join us again- every session is different!
The word tevah is used in the Torah to refer to Noah’s ark as well as the basket that Moses was placed in. Our circle will be a safe and confidential space to express what’s on your hearts and minds, both about our Jewish world and about our wider world so rife with hatred and conflict. At the outset we’ll agree to some basic ground rules to give us structure and safety. Each participant will have an opportunity to speak while holding the talking stick (actually a silver sugar bowl).
Evan Ferber and Eliana Stockwell-Ferber will facilitate. They both have training and experience in small group facilitation. No registration is required. Please come, including those of you who’ve come to past teva circles. We’ll be meeting at three pm upstairs in the Temple chapel on the first Shabbat, the next three months.
For more information, please email Evan or Eliana at evanpferber@gmail.com or elianasf1@gmail.com.

For our first meeting, please bring two poems - one to share for enjoyment, the other for light critique. For the critique poem, bring six copies (free printing available at Timberland Library, across the street from TBH). Questions? Contact Suzanne Simons, paradise.com@comcast.net

Maimouna Thursday, April 23, 7:00 pm In Person
Celebrate Maimouna at TBH! Maimouna is the traditional end-of-Passover celebration of the Moroccan Jewish community, when family and friends would visit each others homes, eat special foods, and receive blessings for new life. This was also a time of interfaith connection as the Moroccan Jews’ Muslim neighbors would provide the hametz (leavened products) for the end of the holiday. Rabbi Seth’s mother-in-law, Alice Haya Kinberg z”l was born in Morocco and her family fled to Israel as refugees in the 1950s. She carried this tradition to the US where Rabbi Yohanna Kinberg grew up celebrating Maimouna. All are invited to celebrate Maimouna at TBH, share in traditional Moroccan desserts, and Rabbi Yohanna will lead the traditional Maimouna blessings. We are looking for people to make and bring desserts! Please contact Rabbi Seth if interested rabbi@bethhatfiloh.org.

COMMITTEE UPDATES
Immigrant & Refugee Task Force: Immigration Support & Advocacy
We know that many of you are looking for how best to support our immigrant neighbors at this perilous time. We want to help by highlighting local and statewide organizations that are doing this important work. Each week we will highlight one that we feel is worthy of both your time and financial support. We encourage you to visit the organization web sites WAISN - Washington Immigration Solidarity Network
In 2016, in response to escalating white supremacy and anti-immigrant threats, a coalition of immigrant and refugee-led organizations that had been supporting their communities across Washington state for decades came together to form the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network. It is now the largest immigrant led coalition in Washington. WAISN is committed to defending immigrant and refugee communities from deportation while advocating for meaningful systemic change. Some of WAISN’s issues: ◦ Health Equity ◦ Ending collaboration between ICE and Dept of Corrections ◦ Deportation Defense
TBH is currently purchasing more Chumashim, the Torah books that are used during Shabbat services along with the prayerbooks. These books allow those at services to follow the Torah reading and gain insight into the weekly Torah portion with its translation and commentary. We are expanding our inventory since we do not have enough at our larger services (primarily b’nai mitzvah). You have the opportunity to sponsor a book! For a $100 donation, you can sponsor a book, which includes the right to put a book plate indicating your sponsorship, as well as if it is in honor or memory of someone. If you wish to make a donation, please use the online TBH donation form and indicate in the “gift details” that this is for a chumash and if you wish to make a dedication.
Library Committee Book Spotlight YA Graphic Novel Fans! Check out (literally!) the selection upstairs in the Youth Library next time you are at TBH! Just add your name and date to the checkout binder and enjoy!
