COMING UP AT TBH
Libby Michaelson Bat Mitzvah Project
Hi, I'm Libby Michaelson! I'm currently a 7th grader at Dr. Claudia Thomas Middle School. I'm a cellist, I play JV tennis and basketball for my school, and I'm involved in robotics. My Bat Mitzvah is coming up on November 9th. I chose to partner with Raising Girls for my Mitzvah Project. I am collecting menstrual hygiene products to help people experiencing period poverty. This cause has always meant a lot to me because everyone deserves access to hygiene even if they can't afford it. I appreciate your donations of pads, liners, and tampons. I have a bin set up in the entry way for your donations!
November Salon: Lisa Brodoff & Lynn Grotsky Friday, November 8, 6:30 pm In Person
Join TBH for our November Salon featuring Lisa Brodoff and Lynn Grotsky. It’s 1986 in Thurston County, WA. Bio-mom Lisa, and lesbian partner Lynn, are having a baby using donor insemination, but equal rights for the nonbiological mom to legally parent their child is not a given. This is the story of how, after a two-year court battle, they secured these parenting rights for themselves and for all other same-sex couples in the state of Washington and then extended throughout the nation. Lynn and Lisa have continued to fight for LGBTQ+ equality and safety up to the present day. In this talk, they’ll discuss the local and national coalitions that helped bring about second parent adoption and later a string of other victories for the LGBTQ+ community.
Our salon includes a dinner at 6:30 pm catered by Nineveh! We will gather in the social hall to say Shabbat prayers as a community and enjoy dinner together. Our featured presenter will follow at approximately 7:30 pm. Register for the dinner>>

Interfaith Works: Disturbing the Peace Screening Saturday, October 26, 6:00 pm In Person @ Westminster Presbyterian Church (1925 Boulevard Rd SE)
Free event--Registration Required. Join us for a transformative screening of“Disturbing the Peace.” This documentary tells the story of Combatants for Peace, an organization of former soldiers from both sides of the conflict within Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Follow their journey of laying down arms, meeting each other, and committing to nonviolently working together for a just, peaceful, and equitable future for all.
This event seeks to awaken empathy as a catalyst for healing, encouraging participants to better understand the impacts of dehumanization and to explore strategies to “rehumanize” each other.
Participants will explore themes of the film in facilitated small group conversations following the film screening. Seating will be assigned for small group work to help promote diversity and relationship building across communities. Accommodation and support will be offered for those seeking to engage in another way. This interfaith effort is inspired by support of the City of Olympia Ceasefire Resolution M-2490 signed on 12/12/23.
THIS EVENT IS HOSTED BY INTERFAITH WORKS WITH SUPPORT FROM THE DISPUTE RESOLUTION CENTER
