Reconstructing Judaism: The Reconstructionist Movement's Commitment to Israel
Excerpted from a message from Rabbi Amber Powers:
Many Reconstructionists have asked for further clarification of the movement’s stance toward Israel and Zionism. We have taken this feedback very seriously and have examined closely how we communicate our commitments.
To this end, we have made substantial updates to the Israel section of Reconstructing Judaism’s website to ensure that it is accessible, understandable and accurately reflects our movement’s positions and activities. We urge you to explore the links below.
In particular we have: -Added an FAQ section with answers to many of the questions we have received; - Communicated more clearly the movement’s commitment to progressive Zionism including a deep commitment to the flourishing of Jewish life in the Land of Israel based on the principles of democracy expressed in Israel’s Declaration of Independence, Jewish religious pluralism, Jewish cultural renewal, opposition to the Occupation, and support for the pursuit of peace with Palestinians; -Updated our key resources to support Reconstructionist communities and Jewish living post-October 7th; and - Highlighted ways to support values aligned organizations working in the region.
