Celebrate Maimouna at TBH! Tuesday, April 30, 7:00 pm In Person
Maimouna is the traditional end-of-Passover celebration of the Moroccan Jewish community, when family and friends would visit each others homes, eat special foods, and receive blessings for new life. This was also a time of interfaith connection as the Moroccan Jews’ Muslim neighbors would provide the hametz (leavened products) for the end of the holiday. Rabbi Seth’s mother-in-law, Alice Haya Kinberg z”l was born in Morocco and her family fled to Israel as refugees in the 1950s. She carried this tradition to the US where Rabbi Yohanna Kinberg grew up celebrating Maimouna. This year all are invited to celebrate Maimouna at TBH, share in traditional Moroccan foods, and Rabbi Yohanna will lead the traditional Maimouna blessings.

Looking beyond the Mitzvah of Matzah?
In less than one week we fulfill the Mitzvah of eating Matzah. Looking beyond Passover we have another chance to perform a significant mitzvah in the next 200 days. This General Election will probably be the most important election any of us have ever known, and it is going to be very close in many ways.
Like me you may find yourself frustrated at the state of current events and wondering what YOU can do about it. Writing postcards to infrequent voters in states where voting is much harder than here in Washington IS a mitzvah. In 2022 several of us at TbH joined together to form TbH Shoferim and wrote over 300 postcards through RAC (Religious Action Committee of Reform Judaism), which in 2020 mailed 9 million cards. Research shows that 1 out of every 4 persons who received a card voted.
If you are interested in joining us this election, please let me know - tishlevee@gmail.com or text me at 707-526-9864
Some congregations are having postcard writing parties, meeting for coffee, a nosh, and a mitzvah. We could do that. Also you can get postcards sent to you directly. It is not too soon to start writing cards to be held for a later mailing.
The Braid: Yearning to Breathe Free Thursday, April 18, 4:00 pm Online
The Braid moves hearts and challenges minds with mostly true contemporary stories performed on stage and online. Since 2008, the Braid has been recognized for its unique theatrical art form, “Salon Theatre,” that sits at the intersection of theatre and storytelling. On Thursday, April 18 they will present “Yearning to Breath Free.”
“As we reflect on the themes of freedom and liberation celebrated during Passover, this poignant salon ties perfectly into the season. It delves into the vibrant, ongoing story of Jewish immigrants in America, weaving together true narratives from across the globe—Ukraine, China, Iran, Chile, Egypt, Turkey, and Israel. These stories not only highlight the resilience rooted in Jewish tradition but also mirror the Passover journey from oppression to freedom, as they recount the challenges and triumphs of seeking a new life in a new land.”
