Morning Service & Bat Mitzvah, 10:00 am Hybrid Our Shabbat morning service this week will include the Bat Mitzvah of Jean Mandeberg, Laura Citrin, and Nancy Koppelman. Read more below.
Bat Mitzvah: Laura Citrin, Nancy Koppelman, Jean Mandeberg Saturday, April 6, 10:00 am Hybrid
Almost two years ago, Rabbi Seth put out a call to anyone in the congregation who didn't have the opportunity for a Bat or Bar Mitzvah when they were 13 to get to study and prepare for one now as adults. Ever since then, Laura, Nancy, and Jean, three friends and former Evergreen colleagues, have been studying, discussing, and learning together. They have each focused their study on a different aspect of becoming a Bat Mitzvah: reading from the Torah; commenting on the Torah portion Sh’mini (Leviticus 9-11); and leading the Mourner's Kaddish prayer and offering a meditation on its meanings.
Now we look forward to their Bat Mitzvah celebration on April 6, 2024, at 10:00 am. The congregation is invited to join them for this Saturday morning Shabbat service at TBH in person or on Zoom (link below). A Kiddush lunch in the Social Hall will follow.

Celebrate Maimouna at TBH! Tuesday, April 30, 7:00 pm In Person
Maimouna is the traditional end-of-Passover celebration of the Moroccan Jewish community, when family and friends would visit each others homes, eat special foods, and receive blessings for new life. This was also a time of interfaith connection as the Moroccan Jews’ Muslim neighbors would provide the hametz (leavened products) for the end of the holiday. Rabbi Seth’s mother-in-law, Alice Haya Kinberg z”l was born in Morocco and her family fled to Israel as refugees in the 1950s. She carried this tradition to the US where Rabbi Yohanna Kinberg grew up celebrating Maimouna. This year all are invited to celebrate Maimouna at TBH, share in traditional Moroccan foods, and Rabbi Yohanna will lead the traditional Maimouna blessings.

Development Committee Updates
Dear Fellow TBH Members:
TBH relies on several fundraisers each year to meet our budget. This year, we do not have a scheduled large event like a gala and we recognize that members have been quite generous in helping us meet our goals to fund the courtyard and parking lots. So this year we are trying a new, "Playful" approach: We are putting out a call for members to host “Funraiser” events for TBH by teaching a class, hosting a meal, sharing an experience, or creating an event. Your Development Committee will provide support and TBH can provide support as well. For example, in January, Erin and Gaute Syversen sponsored a delicious lox making class fundraiser and we already have several additional projects:
An elegant salmon dinner with views of the sound, A mezuzah glass fusing party, A Sephardic music class A jam making class and A Mt. Saint Helens’ hike.
Do you have an idea? Please contact Barb Soule (360 581-0779) or Leslie Goldstein (360 791-9759). The Development Committee can help support you. Events can be hosted at TBH or elsewhere. Look forward to sharing new experiences with you and supporting TBH at the same time.
THANK YOU!
