Please note the earlier time for our Erev Shabbat gathering this week. Celebrate Shabbat outside with the annual Shabbat in the Park! We will gather at LBA park ( 3333 Morse-Merryman Rd SE, Olympia, WA 98501) for food, fun and friendship.
This version of Shabbat in the Park will be potluck only--please bring a vegetarian dish to share. After eating we will have a short service, then time to schmooze--don't forget picnic blankets and folding chairs!
As it is the start of the month of Elul, please feel free to bring your park-appropriate pet for the New Year of the Animals.
Special Guest for Mussar Torah Study Saturday, August 19, 10:00 am Online Only
Our special guest is the writer of this week’s insights in “Mussar Torah Commentary”, Justice Annabelle Imber Tuck.
Annabelle is the first woman elected justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court and the author of the 1994 order that reshaped the financing of public education in the state. She was re-elected twice before retiring. After retiring, Annabelle became a practitioner and facilitator of the mussar work of Alan Morinis and the Mussar Institite.
The middah (soul trait) for our Torah portion this week is Justice/Tzedek: “Justice, Justice Shall you Pursue.” Please plan on joining Annabelle, Rabbi Seth and the group on Zoom for an intriguing Mussar discussion of the Torah portion and this soul trait.

How can the guidelines of T’shuva inform our current practice of Racial Justice? What did Maimonides have to say about reparations? Introduction to Judaism Starts October Online
This class is a survey of Jewish texts, practices, ideas, and history, taught by 30 rabbis from across Washington State from a variety of denominations, backgrounds, and work experiences—including Rabbi Seth.
This class is suitable for all adult learners, including those exploring Judaism personally (including possible conversion), those looking to add depth to their Jewish identity, those partnered with Jews or part of Jewish families, or those just interested in learning more about Judaism.

Two Free Elul Programs through IJS Starting Mid-August Online
The Institute of Jewish Spirituality is excited to announce two free five-week programs beginning in mid-August and running through the Hebrew month of Elul, a time for spiritual reflection, introspection, and moral accounting – a month when it is traditional to begin the day by internalizing the sound of the shofar.
