Erev Shabbat Friday, May 26 Storytelling Shabbat, 7:00 pm Online The last “Telling our TBH Story” for the season will be on Friday May 24, 2023. Each one of us has stories we tell ourselves about our experiences. In sharing stories we create connections and in listening we open ourselves to new perspectives and understanding. And stories are so much fun. See more below.
Shabbat Morning Saturday, May 27 Talmud, 10:00 am Hybrid This month we will be finishing tractate Berachot, which we have been studying for the past few years! We will gather in the TBH social hall and online on Zoom. The Talmud is an ancient compendium of Jewish law and lore, and provides the basis upon which biblical interpretation and contemporary Jewish practice rests. Hardly a monolithic document, the Talmud contains investigation and argumentation on all the facets of life. No background required!
Shavuot is the springtime festival that celebrates Torah and Jewish learning in all its forms. A commemoration of the biblical story of the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai, Shavuot is marked by the traditional practice of learning late into the night and eating dairy foods. Typically at TBH we hold a short service followed by a series of learning sessions led by our members, this year we will kick off the evening with an all-ages ice cream party!
6:30 p.m.: Ice Cream Party and Kids Activities 8:00 p.m.: Service--Hybrid Zoom information: Join Meeting>> Meeting ID: 852 1134 7542
8:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.: Book of Ruth Escape Room Adventure! 9:30-10:30 p.m.: Hebrew & Contemporary Songs with Sara Eve Sarliker 10:30-11:00 p.m.: Cheesecake Break 11:00-12:00 midnight: Aspects of Revelation with Rabbi Seth
Storytelling Shabbat Friday, May 26, 7:00 pm Online
The theme for storytellers will be “Your Experience with an Event or Occasion at TBH.” After the stories are told, we have the option to gather in small zoom rooms to reflect on the stories told or share our own. We hope to have more Story Shabbats in the fall. If you have ideas for themes, please share them with Leslie or Nancy.
“Our stories tell us who we are, who we were and who we hope to be. They are how we our very identity…. They’re how we keep our history alive.” How to Tell a Story: The Essential Guild to Memorable Storytelling from the Moth.

HFLA Loan Applications April & May
This is the time of year when students and their families learn where their students will be headed to school in the fall. HFLA is preparing to support your student by actively raising funds for the Student Access Fund (SAF) loan, and our scholarship programs.
We also continue to be a resource for individuals who are looking to make-ends-meet, afford transportation and housing, need help paying medical bills, refinancing high-interest debt and student loans.
HFLA is a community resource to help you meet unforeseen expenses and to reduce your debt burden by replacing debt that grows with an HFLA loan that only shrinks.
