We are looking for volunteers to help welcome TBH members and guests to services on Friday evenings for Erev Shabbat. These individuals (often best to have a pair!), are responsible for arriving to Erev Shabbat a bit early and opening the doors, providing directions and assistance as needed. We are particularly in need of a volunteer to assist with Friday, August 26th (7:30 service). If you are interested in helping out or learning more, email Kayla in the office.
Adult B’nai Mitzvah Group Forming!
Are you Jewish and never had a b’nai mitzvah? Whatever the reason it didn’t happen when you were 13, it is not too late. Having an adult b’nai mitzvah can be a wonderful way to celebrate and affirm one’s Jewish identity. Rabbi Seth is forming an adult b’nai mitzvah cohort to meet monthly over the course of the coming year (beginning in the fall) with the goal of a group ceremony in May of 2023. We will have the opportunity to learn together and plan together based on both individual and group interests, as well as engage with a curriculum developed by Rabbi Seth. All skill levels welcome. If you are interested, please contact rabbi@bethhatfiloh.org to let him know. Again, this is the name collecting phase, we will have an orientation for interested folks in the late summer, so even if you are not sure, reach out!
Introduction to Judaism Class from the Washington Coalition of Rabbis Starts October Online
Are you Jewish and want to learn more about Jewish traditions and practices? Are you interested in exploring Judaism (and possible conversion) and are looking for a class of basic knowledge? Are you an ally and want to understand more about Judaism? The Washington Coalition of Rabbis, an organization of rabbis across the (non-Orthodox) denominations serving Washington State, will once again be offering a comprehensive, online Introduction to Judaism class beginning October, 2022. Taught by Rabbi Seth and other WA State rabbis.
Join TBH Shoferim to postcard for democracy, as we team up with the Reform Action Committee and Reclaim Our Vote. Next week we will be sending postcards to potential voters in Virginia. The One Voice One Vote campaign is non-partisan, designed to get out the vote. Order you cards at www.rac.org/postcard and note that you are part of TBH Shoferim. We can make a difference! One out of four people who get these cards take action to vote. If you have any questions, contact Tish Levee at 707-526-9864 (text first) or tishlevee@gmail.com. Thanks.
