If you are coming by TBH, make sure to bring a donation for Celia's Mitzvah Project--see below!
Hi, My name is Celia Brockman, and my Bat Mitzvah is an upcoming event here at Temple Beth Hatfiloh. A community service project or “Mitzvah Project” is usually included in a Bat Mitzvah, For my Mitzvah Project, I am focusing on Period Poverty. Period Poverty is when women are experiencing economic stress which results in their not being able to afford the expenses of womens hyigene products. I am creating a donation bin here at the Temple for community members to donate products. I will collect those products and bring them to a local organization where they would be given to women in need. Contributions of any kind including cash donations (checks made out to Thurston County Food Bank, memo: Other Bank), pads or tampons are greatly appreciated.
The donation box will be out front of TBH during salon meal pick-ups this Friday, June 13 from 5-5:30 pm.
Thank you!

Volunteers Needed for Unity Commons Meals 4th Sunday of the month
The Homelessness Task Force has now prepared two meals for folks residing at the new Interfaith Works Unity Commons Shelter. We are hoping to provide one meal per month as part of our service to the community. To pull this off, we need volunteers! We are looking for about 4 people for each date to meet at 2:30pm in the TBH kitchen to prepare the meal. It should take about 2 hours of your time. We are aiming for the 4th Sunday of each month, although dates may change due to holidays. If you are interested in participating in this fun and rewarding endeavor, please email tbh@bethhatfiloh.org. We still need some people for August 28th.
Adult B’nai Mitzvah Group Forming!
Are you Jewish and never had a b’nai mitzvah? Whatever the reason it didn’t happen when you were 13, it is not too late. Having an adult b’nai mitzvah can be a wonderful way to celebrate and affirm one’s Jewish identity. Rabbi Seth is forming an adult b’nai mitzvah cohort to meet monthly over the course of the coming year (beginning in the fall) with the goal of a group ceremony in May of 2023. We will have the opportunity to learn together and plan together based on both individual and group interests, as well as engage with a curriculum developed by Rabbi Seth. All skill levels welcome. If you are interested, please contact rabbi@bethhatfiloh.org to let him know. Again, this is the name collecting phase, we will have an orientation for interested folks in the late summer, so even if you are not sure, reach out!
Introduction to Judaism Class from the Washington Coalition of Rabbis Starts October Online
Are you Jewish and want to learn more about Jewish traditions and practices? Are you interested in exploring Judaism (and possible conversion) and are looking for a class of basic knowledge? Are you an ally and want to understand more about Judaism? The Washington Coalition of Rabbis, an organization of rabbis across the (non-Orthodox) denominations serving Washington State, will once again be offering a comprehensive, online Introduction to Judaism class beginning October, 2022. Taught by Rabbi Seth and other WA State rabbis.
Here’s a way to feel less hopeless and less helpless. The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC) is writing postcards for Reclaim our Vote. This in a non-partisan campaign effort. RAC supply postcards, scripts, and addresses and will send kits of 30 postcards directly to all who sign up. We buy the stamps. Many BIPOC voters aren’t fortunate to live where voting is easy-peasy, as we do and face many hurdles to cast their votes. This is where we can make a difference. We can help Get Out the Vote in states with at least 20% BIPOC voters by writing postcards. If you’d like to help Get Out the Vote in these states—please contact Tish Levee. She’ll send you information on how to get started. Any questions, text her at 707-526-9864; email at tishlevee@gmail.com. BTW Research shows that 1 of every 4 people who receive a postcard, take action to Vote.
