This month's presenter will be TBH member Andrée Aelion Brooks, presenting The Evil Eye, Amulets, Ghosts and Demons: exploring Jewish superstitions and mystical practices through the ages. From biblical times to the present time, Jews have had their superstitions. Where and how did these beliefs originate? How did the rabbis react? Have they changed over the centuries? Where does Kabbalah fit in? And, by the way, what exactly is Kabbalah? An excursion into the world of Jewish mystical ways.
Meal pick-up for those who placed an order will take place prior to services in the TBH parking lot. Registrants will receive a reminder email and time slot tomorrow. Those who didn't order a meal are most welcome at services or the presentation--join for all or part! Services start at 6:00 pm, presentation at approximately 7:15 pm.
Florence Adler Swims Forever - Rachel Beanland Based loosely on a true story, Beanland's family saga is a breathtaking portrait of just how far we will go to in order to protect our loved ones and an uplifting portrayal of how the human spirit can endure-- and even thrive--after tragedy.
Prayer Project: Sacred Chant Course through IJS December 19 - January 14, meeting times TBD
TBH will be participating in a 30-day prayer intensive presented by the Institute for Jewish Spirituality. By cultivating a personal practice of chant, we are receiving the holy texts that we have inherited by making them wholly our own. Through daily practice supported by teachings, processing and reflection we will learn and explore the power of the sacred phrase as a tool of healing and transformation. Each Sunday, you will receive an email with a video teaching, accompanied by a written lesson, which may include links to Jewish texts, secular writings, poems, music, videos, and other references to supplement your learning. Rabbi Seth will guide a TBH processing group (times TBD) for those who have registered for the course.
To register through IJS, click here (you will be required to create an account if you don't already have one). Make sure to use the code IJS_64 for the discounted course rate!
