Racial Justice Reading Group Starts Sunday, April 11, 4:00 pm and Monday, April 12, 7:00 pm
Zoom links have been emailed separately to group registrants! This fall and winter we held three thoughtful and engaging programs on racial justice, and how we as a Jewish community can take on the work of anti-racism. Thank you to all who participated, and indicated their ideas for next steps in our survey.
We are beginning an anti-racism book group to read and discuss “So You Want to Talk About Race” by Ijeoma Oulo. We hope to create safe and brave space to do a deep dive into the themes and topics of the book, to be challenged and to grow from the experience, and to lay the foundation for action.
Contact Rabbi Seth with any questions. Thanks to Mari Nowitz, Paul Paroff and Heather Rudich for organizing this group for our community!
COMING UP AT TBH
Lag B'Omer Celebration Thursday, April 29, 7:00 pm
Join Mo and Amanda, the co-founders of Jewish brand Gold Herring for a Lag B'Omer workshop. During the one hour Zoom session, participants will explore the themes of gratitude and humility through story, conversation, and mindfulness.
This will be a time to stoke our inner fire, connect with what fuels us, and discover an embodied approach to observing Lag B'Omer and the 49 days of the counting of the Omer. Mo and Amanda will be sharing from The Omer Workbook and other immersive resources they've designed to help deepen people's connection to Jewish wisdom and culture. Whether you've counted the Omer your whole life, or you are just learning about this tradition for the first year, this workshop is for you.
In preparation for this event, if you would like to order your own copy of The Omer Workbook, they are availalble at GoldHerring.com. Mo and Amanda are gifting free digital copies of the workbook to TBH community members. To redeem your free digital, go to the Gold Herring website, put the digital workbook in your cart and use this coupon code at checkout: TBHOMER (expires April 30th). Educating for Change: Ensuring Holocaust Remembrance in WA-State Thursday, April 15, 11:00 AM
Holocaust education is history, literature, social studies, psychology, art, and so much more. It is through studying the Holocaust that all people may learn the importance of critical thinking, speaking out against bigotry and indifference, and taking action in the pursuit of justice. Please, join OSPI's STRIDE and OSSI, as well as the Holocaust Center for Humanity, as we engage with learning around Holocaust education and state requirements, bias in society, as well as opportunities to advocate for change and tolerance. We will also hear from the experiences of a survivor in this webinar and have the opportunity for a question and answer session.
