Pen Pal Opportunity!
The TBH families with kids are looking for volunteers to participate in a pen pal activity. This activity pairs up TBH kids with other adults in the community to share and learn about what it is like to be Jewish growing up. This is also an opportunity to help families to reach out to each other at an isolating time. If you are interested in correspondence (either by mail or email) with another TBH family, please email Catherine to be matched up with someone. Thank you very much!

Early Friday Morning Submitted by Camille Kettel
I fill a one-cup measure with warm water Into it I slip a sweet spoon of honey, amber-clear My hands encircling the cup, I caress it Reciprocal heat flooding my fingers, I give back what is given Reluctantly, I set it down and reach for a packet of granulated yeast Slowly, I sprinkle over the water and step back to watch in wonder It sinks slowly toward the bottom, grain by tiny grain, and then it Dances rapidly around the inside perimeter of the cup Laughing, bubbling, rising to life, joyous, exuberant, unafraid I whisk into the liquid an egg Its yolk round and golden as the elusive sun I fold in sifted flour and a bit of salt This dough I will braid into challah to bless my Shabbat table Beautiful and sweet, it will nourish and sustain the soul Here on the west coast the day is just beginning But it is near mid-morning in the east My sister-friend will have already prepared her bread for baking She, who lives amongst soaring skyscrapers of concrete and steel Awesome wonders of creation just as surely as the evergreens Outside my window which only now emerge from morning fog And clarify their shape and stature, tall, stately, elegant In this land of damp and misty rain
