The summer lunch program for the Thurston County Food Bank (TCFB) needs the help of TBH. This year, TCFB’s summer lunch program will be expanded to serve 400-500 children a day! One of the lunches served is peanut butter and jelly (PB&J) sandwiches. TBH is going to help restock summer lunch shelves with jams and jellies, as they are in great need for jars or squeeze bottles of strawberry or grape jams or jellies.
On Friday, June 12, there will be a TBH Zoom Salon with services from 6-7 p.m. and then the Salon will start thereafter. Some of you have ordered dinner from Nineveh and will be driving by TBH to pick dinner up from 5-5:30. Bernie Friedman, Emily Chadwick, Michelle and Richard Jackman and Elie Halpern will be masked, gloved and in the TBH parking lot from 4:30 to 5:30 if you would be kind enough to drive to TBH and to Stop, Pop your trunk or rear door, so we can remove any strawberry or grape jams or jellies that you are willing to donate to the Food Bank, and then Go on your way. We hope to collect 600 grape or strawberry jams or jellies in jars or squeeze bottles. Three Other Options:
We can also arrange to pick up strawberry or grape jam and/or jellies from your house if you cannot make it to TBH on June 12;
We can buy the strawberry and grape jam and jellies on your behalf and you can reimburse us for the cost and we will deliver it to the Thurston County Food Bank; and/or
You can make out a check to the Thurston County Food Bank and get a charitable contribution specifying it is for purchase of the jams and jellies.
Contact Elie Halpern at 360 357 8160 or email Elie at ehalpern7379@gmail.com for additional assistance. We will be collecting donations of jams and jellies and/or checks this month.

Our Annual Meeting will take place via Zoom. Members in good standing received a ballot via email--please don't forget to vote! If you did not receive a ballot but believe you should have, please contact Kayla at tbh@bethhatfiloh.org. During the one-hour meeting, we’ll seek input related to congregational life during the pandemic. We’ll explore questions including: What do you miss about physically being together? What do you appreciate about congregational life via Zoom? How do you envision our re-entry, as the pandemic winds down? Are there things we are doing now that you’d like to bring with us, even when we can meet physically?
Zoom information is emailed separately to all members in good standing. If you are unsure about your membership, please take this opportunity to check your ShulCloud account or email Kayla at tbh@bethhatfiloh.org.
Green Team Meeting Tuesday, June 16, 5:45 pm
TWO LOCAL ACTIONS TO PROMOTE CLIMATE SURVIVAL - PERFECT FOLLOWUP FOR SHAVUOT (whether you remember it for the agricultural festival it was, or for the covenant with the Creator that it became!)
These simple actions are sponsored by TCAT -Thurston Climate Action Team:
Also, we know many of you are gardening more this year. We’d like to hear what you’re doing, as well as if you’re interested in information and/or a workshop which would support you.
Our next Green Team meeting will be by Zoom on Tues. June 6th at 5:45. Everyone is welcome. Contact tbh@bethhatfiloh.org with any questions or information.
As we continue to navigate this pandemic, we know that things will not return to “normal” in the near future. We will need to continue to find new and creative ways to come together as a community. In just about 3 months, we will celebrate the High Holidays. And as we make our plans as a congregation, we need your input. We may not be able to observe in the way we are accustomed, but with your help we can create opportunities that are meaningful, spiritual, and educational, connecting us to one another and to the divine spirit. Eclipsing
They eclipse each other Two darkening moons Covid, weaving its web While an abhorrent, violent act Passes shamefully in front of it Shocking a silent world
The virus continues to spin Begs vigilance, radiates out From an elaborate concentric circle Leaving spaces immense, global An exchange of nature's artistry Vast, its implications
Amidst the covid-snare, Systemic social injustice Two enormous destructive crises Interweave, complex, intricate We must not minimize the magnitude Of each eclipsing threat
Yet, lest angst entwine With unspeakable despair, We embrace nature, love, joy, beauty, Protect ourself and others with distance With masks, yet harden not our heart To a separation of spirit
We phase back into community Stand in solidarity with science Protest against the inertia of apathy We visualize shalom Move from illness into wellness Welcome in the gentle heal of hope

Evergreen Course: Many Israels
This summer Nancy Koppelman, faculty at Evergreen, is teaching a class, all on line including twice-weekly live discussions, called "Many Israels." Nancy is currently a faculty fellow at the Schusterman Center at Brandeis University, which included a month-long intensive study of Israel last summer. She has had a long-standing ambition to be able to offer a course like this at Evergreen. Spread the word to your Israel-curious friends, or maybe take the class yourself! Read the course description and contact Nancy if you have any questions. https://www.evergreen.edu/catalog/offering/many-israels-26106
