Support Our Courtyard!

We invite you to add your support for an exciting TBH initiative:  the creation of a stunning new courtyard for our Temple by expanding the present courtyard and transforming it into a beautiful, safe space. With this new and vibrant space, TBH will be able to more fully connect to the Jewish value of hachnasat orechim (“hospitality”), furthering our mission of being a welcoming home for all.

The Courtyard security and beautification project will cost $335,000 to complete. We are pleased to announce that we have raised all of the funds from a combination of sources including grants, reserve funds, and many TBH members.

Coinciding with the purchase of our new parking lot, last year TBH applied for and received a Homeland Security grant for $108,000 to harden our Temple’s security. While antisemitic threats to Jewish communities in the US have been rising, TBH takes communal security seriously and we are actively making the Temple as safe as possible.  Some of the security measures are electronic, but most prominent with be the construction of a new fence with brick columns.

The fenced area will not only replace the present courtyard but expand and transform it into a beautiful, safe event space with direct access to the Social Hall. This new and appealing space will be used for weddings, to host the annual Sukkah, b'nai mitzvah celebrations, Shabbat services and other joyous occasions. This project demonstrates that being welcoming and safe are not mutually exclusive, and in fact support each other.

This project is an extraordinary, tangible and immediate addition to programming capabilities. Thank you for your contribution to the wellness and vivacity of our community.
