Understanding Israel with Professor Nancy Koppelman

Tuesday, January 10, 2023 17 Tevet 5783

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Israel is the only state in the world with a majority Jewish population, yet there is much we may not know about its complicated history and present-day challenges. Join Professor Nancy Koppelman as she leads us toward a better understanding of Israel and its history, culture, and relationship with its neighbors and with Jews around the world.
This six-part virtual series will be taught by TBH Member Professor Nancy Koppelman (The Evergreen State College). Nancy held a three-year appointment as Visiting Research Scholar with the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies at Brandeis University, where she was a faculty fellow in 2019. She is currently a speaker through Humanities Washington talking about Israel, and was previously a speaker in 2014-16 talking about human rights. She is currently teaching a course at Evergreen called “Antisemitism Revisited.” The class will be moderated by Rabbi Goldstein and will include opportunities for questions and discussion.
Class meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.

Schedule: January 10 (“Religion”), January 24 ("Immigration"), February 7 ("The State"), February 21 ("The Land"), March 7 ("Onlookers and Visionaries"), March 21 ("Discussion"). Registration is required and it is expected that you can attend all 6 sessions. There is no fee for TBH members, non-member suggested donation of $108 ($18 per session).

Sorry, Registration has ended.
