Shabbat Morning Service: Rosh Chodesh Elul
Saturday, August 31, 2019 • 30 Av 5779
10:00 AM - 1:00 PMRosh Chodesh Elul -- the start of the month of Elul, the month that leads us to the threshold of the New Year --- falls on Shabbat this year. Tradition teaches that this month is the time for mending and healing our relationships as we approach the Days of Awe. According to tradition, Moses ascended Mount Sinai on Rosh Chodesh Elul to prepare the second set of tablets after the first had been shattered. (He came back down, carrying them, on Yom Kippur, when the people's repentance for worshiping the Golden Calf was complete.) Please join us on Saturday, August 31 at 10:00 am for a Shabbat Rosh Chodesh Elul morning service. Service leadershp will be shared by Sam K-G, Rabbi Marna, Evan F, and Barak G, and Torah will be read by Karen G, Laura S, and Nancy S. Lots of singing! Potluck kiddush lunch to immefiately follow. Bring something delicious to share!
