Salon@Home: Adrienne Ross Scanlan

Friday, September 9, 2022 13 Elul 5782

6:00 PM - 9:00 PMOnline with meal pick-up at TBH

In keeping with Elul and the High Holy Days, our September speaker will be Adrienne Ross Scanlan on “Environmental T’Shuvah in Spirit and Action.” Join Adrienne as she applies thoughts on t’shuvah from Rabbi Alan Lew and Rabbi Jonathan Sacks to research-proven, local, hands-in-the ground actions, from rain gardens to tree planting, that restore salmon runs, mitigate climate change, and deepen our spiritual commitment to nature.

Adrienne is the author of Turning Homeward – Restoring Hope and Nature in the Urban Wild (2017 Washington State Book Award Finalist), which weaves memoir with science-based nature writing to tell her story as a Jewish newcomer to the Pacific Northwest who discovers a sense of home by restoring the nature that is close to our lives.  As a (sub) urban naturalist and citizen scientist in NOAA’s Longfellow Creek stormwater studies, Adrienne saw firsthand how stormwater runoff is destroying coho runs. Her current restoration project is to plant 1,000 trees in the Puget Sound region.

ABOUT SALON@HOME
