Maimouna Celebration
Wednesday, April 23, 2025 • 25 Nisan 5785
7:00 PM - 9:00 PMCelebrate Maimouna at TBH! Maimouna is the traditional end-of-Passover celebration of the Moroccan Jewish community, when family and friends would visit each others homes, eat special foods, and receive blessings for new life. This was also a time of interfaith connection as the Moroccan Jews’ Muslim neighbors would provide the hametz (leavened products) for the end of the holiday. Rabbi Seth’s mother-in-law, Alice Haya Kinberg z”l was born in Morocco and her family fled to Israel as refugees in the 1950s. She carried this tradition to the US where Rabbi Yohanna Kinberg grew up celebrating Maimouna. All are invited to celebrate Maimouna at TBH, share in traditional Moroccan desserts, and Rabbi Yohanna will lead the traditional Maimouna blessings. We are looking for people to make and bring desserts! Please contact Rabbi Seth if interested rabbi@bethhatfiloh.org.
