Much of the news cycle about Israel and Palestine focuses on events put into motion by governments and leaders. How can we learn about what everyday life for everyday people? “Jews, Palestinians, and Israelis: Dilemmas in History” is a 3-hour workshop that provides a window into the lives of diverse inhabitants of the land, both before and after Israel became a state. Attendees will be led through an exercise that enables them to learn some history, step into the shoes of others, and consider how the ethical dilemmas that individual people face in life intersect with history.
The aims of this workshops are:
- to highlight the richness of history and inspire curiosity
- to recognize how individual decisions intersect with history
- to grasp the contexts within which people make decisions
- to appreciate how different conceptual “tools” can foster or limit understanding
- to appreciate the challenges that Jews, Palestinians, and Israelis have faced in their efforts to work together for their mutual benefit
This lunch is a fundraiser for TBH. Price: $50 suggested donation. Please email tbh@bethhatfiloh.org to attend at a different rate--all are welcome!
