Sunday, December 20, 2020 5 Tevet 5781 - 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Sunday, December 6, 2020 20 Kislev 5781 - 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

The issue of racial justice has been and continues to be ever present in our local Olympia community and our nation. How can we talk about and work towards racial justice as a Jewish community? In the coming months, join Rabbi Seth and others as we deeply explore this topic.

Sunday, December 6: 2-3:30 Book discussion—“So You Want to Talk About Race” by Ijeoma Oluo.

Sunday, December 20, 2-3:30 p.m. Workshop: Jewish Perspectives on Reparations

What do Jewish traditions have to say about reparations and economic justice?

This workshop will be a first step towards discovering how we as a Jewish community can do reparations work, both individually and collectively.

As a core member of Olympia’s chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice, Rebekah Erev comes to this work at the request of local Black Leaders. With Mari Nowitz and Rabbi Seth Goldstein, they have begun this work and hope to inspire others from the greater community to join together in working for Racial Justice here in Olympia and beyond.

For transparency, we are three white Jews facilitating this workshop.

UPCOMING: Friday, January 15, Salon@Home speaker on local issues, Talauna Reed from Olympia SURJ/Justice 4 Yvonne

After these three gatherings, we will hopefully set the stage for future learning/ workshops/action on racial justice.
