Teva Sharing Circle Saturday, February 7, 3:00 pm In Person
The word tevah is used in the Torah to refer to Noah’s ark as well as the basket that Moses was placed in. Our circle will be a safe and confidential space to express what’s on your hearts and minds, both about our Jewish world and about our wider world so rife with hatred and conflict. At the outset we’ll agree to some basic ground rules to give us structure and safety. Each participant will have an opportunity to speak while holding the talking stick (actually a silver sugar bowl). Evan Ferber and Eliana Stockwell-Ferber will facilitate. They both have training and experience in small group facilitation. Please come, including those of you who’ve come to past teva circles.
Dates: Shabbat - Every 1st Saturday of the month Where: the Temple chapel, from 3pm to 4:30 pm For more information, please email Evan or Eliana at evanpferber@gmail.com or elianasf1@gmail.com

Unity Commons Meal Preparation Sunday, February 8 In Person
TBH prepares a monthly meal for 60 at the Unity Commons Shelter on Martin Way. This effort has been possible only with the amazing group of volunteers who have been showing up ready to roll up their sleeves and cook.
Funding for our meals is currently only partially covered under the TBH budget. Our February meal is sponsored by Tess Brandon and Trevor Blanarik. Our next available meal for sponsorship is April 2026 thanks to our generous commumnity. Contact the office to sponsor a future month or to be added to the list of volunteers for cooking.
Lunch and Learn Every Wednesday, 12:00 pm Online
Join Rabbi Seth every Wednesday from 12-1 on Zoom for a look at the weekly Torah portion. Log in from work or home or on the road for an hour of learning and community. Feel free to eat your lunch (or not). No prior knowledge (or Hebrew) needed!
The TBH poetry group meets 1 - 2.30 p.m. Wednesday February 11 in the upstairs chapel. Newcomers are welcome! We come together in a supportive environment to further our own practice, enjoyment and understanding of poetry, and how it applies to our individual and collective lives, and the world today. Appropriate for all levels of poets, and also the merely curious. Bring multiple copies of a poem you have written to share.
Mitzvah Project: Nico Malapote-Blandino
For my Bar Mitzvah Project, I'm raising funds for Pasado's Safe Haven. They're a sanctuary with 200 animals from all over Washington state, many of them were victims of cruelty and neglect. I chose Pasado’s Safe Haven in memory of my cat, Bubba, who experienced trauma as kitten.

Neighborhood Shabbat Hosts Needed! Monthly on the 3rd Friday evening, April - June In Person @ Home
While Rabbi Seth is on sabbatical April-July, we are looking to create neighborhood gatherings for Erev Shabbat once a month on the 3rd Friday. We are taking the opportunity while he is away to have Shabbat in members' homes, celebrate together, and get to know our neighbors a bit better.
HOW DOES NEIGHBORHOOD SHABBAT HOSTING WORK?
You pick the date(s) that work for you and fill out the form below. (April 17, May 15, June 19)
TBH community members will be asked to sign up to attend through the TBH website--coming soon! Staff will be grouping attendees by map location/neighborhood.
All dinners are potluck. Hosting does not require providing a full meal for your guests.
We will connect our hosts with their attendees via email. Hosts are encouraged to send follow-up instructions and final details (i.e. time adjustments, directions, food instructions)
We will send a few digital resources for you to use as desired, including Shabbat instructions, prayers, and conversation starters.
There is also the possibility that we may not need all the hosts that sign up--we will be in touch if so!
Hosts may submit reimbursement requests of up to $75 for costs incurred for hosting.
We are looking for event support staff for our large events like the seder and salons as well as additional facility staff to do substitute janitorial work. Please contact Kayla if you are interested and she will provide a position description.

Here is a short description of TBH volunteer roles, and here is the sign-up for Shabbat volunteers (with other volunteer opportunities on additional tabs). Contact Kayla with any questions!

Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle: Shared Table Application Deadline March 1
The Seattle Jewish community is approximately 75,000 people and encompasses a diverse range of lived experiences, viewpoints, and perspectives – on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, democracy in the United States, antisemitism, and more. In the last two years, we’ve felt the range of our experiences, which often included significant tensions and polarization. With that in mind, the Federation is launching Shared Table, a pilot new initiative, designed to bring Jews from across Greater Seattle together for a meaningful civil dialogue.
Created by the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), this four-session gathering cohort will create a supportive, structured cohort in which to listen, learn, and communicate across divides in our diverse Jewish community. If you are interested in sharing your perspectives, learning about others, and building a Jewish community that honors and respects our diversity, we hope you will apply to be part of our Shared Table.
TBH frequently tries to share news and events from partner organizations and other items of interest for our community. We encourage you to explore some of these organizations and sign up for their newsletters if you are interested:
