TBH COMMITTEES
From the TBH Immigrant and Refugee Taskforce: Ukranian Couple New to Area Looking for Housing
Maria and Alex are a young married couple from Sumy, Ukraine, near the Russia border. Recently Alex was notified he was chosen in the U.S. “diversity lottery” that authorizes them to work and live permanently in the U.S. They chose to take advantage of the opportunities and safety offered here. Alex is a design engineer with a ph.d. and Maria has taught English as a second language. Resumes available on request. They speak English well and are motivated to find work right away in the Puget Sound area. They are staying with friends now in Olympia but must relocate by November. They need short-term housing near bus service, preferably to rent on a month-to-month basis in a shared apartment or house since they have no furnishings. Alex and Maria would welcome your help. Please contact Taskforce member Nancy Synder at nancy_snyder@comcast.net if you have ideas for this couple. Thank you!

International Indigenous Salmon Seas Symposium Friday, October 28 and Sunday, October 30 Online
The International Salmon Seas Symposium is bringing together thirty-five Indigenous peoples, knowledge-keepers, and invited guests from the three great salmon seas to address the ecological disruption posing a danger to the Pan-Pacific Indigenous communities. This gathering is dedicated to the proposition that all of us have an obligation to each other, to all our relations, to creation, and to future generations to honor ancient lifeways and work together to restore the health of the Salmon Seas.
This event is organized by Se’Si’Le (saw-sea’-law), an all-Indigenous-led nonprofit based in Washington that reintroduces Indigenous Natural Law into the mainstream conversation about climate change and the environment.
