Focus on FORKids

Now thru March 8, 2011 TBH is going to

focus on FORKids!  FORKids is a program

run through the Thurston County Food Bank

where volunteers from the community help

assemble food packages for children

(often homeless) to help tide them over

the weekend when they do not have access

to school meals.  The kids receive the

packages at school, tucked in their backpacks.

Please donate single serving fruit cups,

raisins or other dried real fruit product -

there will be brightly marked bins/boxes

located at TBH for your donation.

Then please mark your calendar to volunteer

with FORKids on Tuesday, March 8, 2011

from 4 - 6 PM at the Thurston County Food

Bank, 220 Thurston Ave. NE, Olympia, to

help assemble the food packages.  All are

welcome - adults, kids, teens & friends!

Ongoing Food Drive at TBH helps support the efforts of

The Thurston County Foodbank:

We now have an ongoing food drive at TBH.

Collection bins can be found in the Office Foyer and

in the Sanctuary Foyer in front of the Tikkun Olam

table. More than ever, a large number of Temple Beth Hatfiloh's Ongoing food drive to support the Thurston County Foodbank

community members rely

on the foodbank as their

main source of food.  Keep

Olympia from going hungry by

donating today.

  • Food Donation Ideas:
  • High protein food such as canned chili,
  • peanut butter, beans, or canned meat.
  • Pasta and Macaroni and Cheese.
  • Canned fruit and vegetables.
  • Soup.
  • Baby Food and Formula.
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables that store well in a refrigerator Not familiar with The Thurston County Food Bank?  Here is a little bit of info that will be of interest. Philosophy  We believe that the hungry must be fed in an atmosphere of neighbor helping neighbor. Mission  It is the mission of the Thurston County Food bank to eliminate hunger within our community. Core Values

    Responsibility. Service. Compassion. Integrity.

    Partnership.

The Food Bank relies largely on community

support. In-kind donations of food and

volunteers are at the core of the annual

budget. Administrative costs are kept to

a minimum, accounting for less than 5 percent

of the annual budget. In 2008, the TCFB served

    a record 37,000 clients, a 39% increase

from 2007.  Numbers have skyrocketed in

the last couple of years due to a struggling

economy.  Now, more than ever, we need

    your help.
