We celebrate the Jewish calendar together as a community as well. In addition to regular holiday services, a variety of special holiday events mark the TBH year-cycle. Our High Holiday services are always a highlight of the year. On Sukkot we build a TBH sukkah, and host a Sukkah Walk, in which we visit the homes of various community members and share a progressive meal. Simchat Torah is a festive affair when we dance and sing with the Torah, and our Hanukkah Party is a popular event. Our Purim celebration features a carnival and the Latke-Hamantaschen Symposium, an “academic” debate in which anything goes. The second night of Passover is when we gather for our Community Seder and the Tikkun Leyl Shavuot on Shavuot celebrates the dual tradition of late night study and eating dairy foods. |
